MIRI, 29 NOV – Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) welcomed members of Persatuan Informasi Ibu Bapa Miri (PIIBM) for an industrial visit to SOP Academy, Lambir 1 Estate, and Lambir Palm Oil Mill. The program was designed to provide parents and children with first-hand exposure to the operations of a sustainable palm oil plantation and processing facility.
The visit began with SOP Academy, where participants were introduced to basic milling procedures and observed product demonstrations. They then continued to Lambir Palm Oil Mill, where they observed first-hand how fresh fruit bunches (FFB) are processed into crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel (PK). The programme concluded at Lambir 1 Estate, where the group visited the nursery to learn about the estate operations and sustainable harvesting practices.
For the families, the visit offered a unique opportunity to experience the palm oil industry together, understand the journey from plantation to mill, and appreciate the standards, technology, and sustainability measures employed by SOP.
Estate Manager of Lambir 1 Estate, Shridharan, shared, “We are pleased to welcome PIIBM members and their children to see our operations up close. Introducing families to the work that takes place across the estate and mill helps build clearer understanding of the industry and the important role each stage plays.”
SOP continues to support educational initiatives and community engagement, reinforcing its commitment to knowledge sharing, sustainability, and building stronger connections with local communities—from estate to mill.
