International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC)

We treat International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) as a critical secondary standard, as it provides a more rigorous greenhouse gas (GHG) tracking mechanism required for exports to highly regulated markets, particularly for biofuels. While the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) standard is mandatory for all Malaysian producers, ISCC is voluntarily adopted by SOPB to ensure compliance with the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) and Fuel Quality Directive.

Previously, our operations were certified under several integrated scopes, including First Gathering Point, Point of Origin, and Processing Units. During this period, our estates were also audited under the ISCC EU Farm and Plantation scope to verify sustainable agricultural practices at the source.

As of 2026, we have rationalised our certification strategy to focus specifically on the Point of Origin (PoO) scope for our seven (7) palm oil mills. This scope covers the production of POME oil and EFB oil. By focusing on the Point of Origin scope, we align with the most rigorous industry standards for waste and residue feedstocks, providing our customers with clear assurance of the sustainable origin of our advanced biofuel components.

We have established a robust sustainability system with ISCC certification criteria fully incorporated and implemented. By embedding key sustainability principles—including the protection of high-carbon stock land and the promotion of fair labour practices—into our core management processes, and through rigorous internal verification, we ensure the long-term integrity and transparency of our entire supply chain.

As of March 2026, all seven (7) eligible palm oil mills (POMs) have successfully completed their Point of Origin audits under these updated standards.
