Handover of Token of Appreciation to Officer from Blood Transfusion Unit Bintulu
BINTULU, 2 AUGUST – SOP Foundation’s blood donation campaign at Boulevard Shopping Mall, Bintulu received great support from the public, collecting 47 pints of blood from 64 registered donors. Out of these, 10 were first-time donors, showing more people are learning how important it is to give blood.
This was the Foundation’s second blood drive this year. The first one, held earlier in Miri, collected 124 pints. Together, both events have added a total of 171 pints to the local blood supply in 2025 so far.
The campaign is part of SOP Foundation’s efforts under its Health Pillar, encouraging the public to take part in health-related community activities.
Teong Jih Jih, Manager of Support and Services, speaking on behalf of SOP Foundation, said: “We’re truly grateful to everyone who came forward to donate. It’s always heartening to see people giving back to the community in such a meaningful way.”
She also thanked the Blood Transfusion Unit Bintulu and Boulevard Shopping Mall Bintulu for their strong support, which helped the event run smoothly.
All 47 successful donors gave blood using triple blood bags, which means each donation can be split into red blood cells, plasma, and platelets, helping up to three patients per donor. It’s also worth noting that there were no adverse reactions reported on the day.
As a thank you, each donor received a 2kg bottle of Merris Lite Pure Vegetable Oil and a goodie bag.
SOP Foundation’s next blood donation campaign will be held on 8 November 2025 at Boulevard Shopping Mall, Level 3, Miri.
The Foundation remains committed to supporting the community through meaningful and helpful programmes. For more updates, visit www.sopfoundation.com.
