[Miri] — Following earlier rounds of the SOP Foundation Vision Care Project at Rh Edwin, Sungai Sujan Mapo (Sebauh) and Rh Buli, Sungai Semanok (Tatau), SOP Foundation continued its commitment to community eye health through the third round of the programme this year, held at a Penan community located at Eastwood Valley Gold & Country Club.
This session aimed to support the wellbeing of the Penan community by providing convenient access to vision screenings. A total of around 90 participants, consisting of both children and adults, took part in the programme, showing strong interest in maintaining good eye health.
As with previous rounds, the programme was carried out in collaboration with Miri Specvision Optometry, whose optometry team conducted the vision screenings and consultations. The costs of the screenings, consultations, and prescription glasses for those who require them are fully sponsored by SOP Foundation under its ongoing Vision Care Project.

Representing SOP Foundation at the event was Iris Yong, Administrator of SOP Foundation, who expressed her appreciation for the warm response from the community.
She said, “We are grateful for the warm welcome and participation from the Penan community. It is encouraging to see families taking the opportunity to prioritise their eye health. SOP Foundation will continue expanding our Vision Care Project to reach more communities, and we look forward to carrying out additional rounds in the coming year.”
SOP Foundation also extended its thanks to the Penan community and Miri Specvision Optometry for their cooperation and support, which contributed to the smooth implementation of this third round of the year.

The Vision Care Project will continue with another session on Friday, 19 December 2025, at Rh Untul, Niah, as part of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to promote community wellbeing through accessible and inclusive eye health initiatives.
