MIRI- Yesterday, SOP Foundation, the charitable arm of Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP), has stepped forward to support communities affected by the recent floods in Miri and Bintulu. As heavy rainfall continues to impact the region, many families have been forced to seek shelter at relief centres. In response, SOP Foundation has provided essential supplies to assist those affected.
Relief aid, including food provisions, clean drinking water, and other necessities, has been distributed to several designated flood relief centres in Miri and Bintulu. In Miri, aid has reached evacuation centres such as Dewan Pusat Bulan Sabit Merah, Dewan Pujut Tanjung, Dewan Kampung Sukan Petronas, SK Agama Miri, and Balai Raya Kampung Pujut Adong. Meanwhile, in Bintulu, SOP Foundation has extended assistance to affected families at PPS SMK Assyakirin and PPS Kidurong.
A spokesperson from SOP Foundation, Iris Yong, expressed the organisation’s commitment to assisting the community during this challenging time. “We understand the hardships faced by those affected by the floods and hope that our contribution will provide some immediate relief. SOP Foundation remains dedicated to supporting communities in times of need.”
