Participants were introduced to various aspects of the industry, including an overview of the Malaysian palm oil sector, the health and nutritional benefits of palm oil, and a focused discussion on sustainability efforts. Common misconceptions were also addressed, equipping tourist guides with accurate, balanced information for both local and international visitors.
Galau said “This initiative by MPOC is crucial in bridging the gap between the palm oil industry and the public. By empowering tourist guides with accurate knowledge, we are enabling them to become ambassadors of truth and sustainability in their interactions with visitors.”
A key highlight was the presentation of MPOC’s educational module, developed to support the tourism industry in communicating effectively on topics such as environmental impact, industry standards, and the role of palm oil in daily life.
The visit included a guided tour of SOP’s operations, offering firsthand insight into its plantation management, led by the Estate Managers.
SOP is proud to support MPOC’s educational efforts and remains committed to fostering public understanding, transparency, and positive engagement around the palm oil industry.
