SOP Hosts SMK Agama’s Visit to Lambir Mills and Plantations
MIRI, 19 July– In line with its continuous effort to support youth education and foster meaningful academic-industry connections, Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) recently welcomed students from SMK Agama Miri for an Academic Visitation at its Lambir Palm Oil Mill and Plantations.
The visit, which took place at the SOP Academy and Lambir site, involved 50 students from the school accompanied by their teachers. The program was designed to give students a closer look into the workings of the palm oil industry, starting with an engaging session by SOP’s engineering team, followed by an immersive guided tour around the mill facilities. The students were then led to visit the fields by the area.
Through the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the process of palm oil production, from fresh fruit bunches to finished products, and gain valuable exposure to industrial practices that are not often seen in a classroom setting.
Cikgu Janetty, a teacher of the business studies subject said, “This industrial visit has been an eye-opening experience for our students. It provided them with a real-world understanding of how the palm oil industry operates, and we truly appreciate SOP’s initiative in making this learning journey possible”.
SOP continues to support educational initiatives that bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, nurturing future talents in the industry through knowledge sharing and hands-on experience.
