SOP Hosts Industrial Visitation by Jabatan Pertanian Sarawak & Smallholders
MIRI, 3 July – Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) honourably hosted a courtesy visit from Jabatan Pertanian Sarawak at the SOP Lambir Palm Oil Mill. Amongst the 71 people were the smallholder farmers, led by Ms. Nur Farah Syazwani binti Melawi, and accompanied by District Officer, Mdm. Anggang Anak Jimbun together with assistant officers of the Agriculture Department.
The visit, which was held at the SOP Academy, the milling area and the nursery, was warmly welcomed and led by Mr. Galau Melayong.
Organised as part of an initiative by Jabatan Pertanian Sarawak, the visit aimed to provide smallholder farmers and Agriculture Officers with hands-on experience paired with deeper understanding into the palm oil industry. The program included knowledge-transferring sessions by in-house engineers and estate managers covering plantation operations, nursery management, and palm oil factorisation process.
Mr. Galau said, “We sincerely thank Jabatan Pertanian Sarawak for initiating this meaningful visit. It has been a privilege to engage with the smallholders and share our sustainability practices with the agricultural community.”
Mdm. Anggang added, “On behalf of the smallholders and the Agriculture Department, thank you to SOP for the warm welcome and the informative sessions. We hope this visit brings valuable insight and motivation for our farmers moving forward.”
SOP extends its sincerest gratitude to Jabatan Pertanian Sarawak for their courtesy visit to the estate. The establishment remains committed to supporting plantation initiatives organised by the state government of Sarawak.
