SOP Welcomes Smallholders & Agriculture Officers from Sri Aman District

MIRI, 27 AUGSarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) recently welcomed officers from the Department of Agriculture (DOA) Sri Aman together with local smallholders for a meaningful visitation to its Lambir Palm Oil Mill and Plantations. The program was part of SOP’s ongoing commitment to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and empower smallholders to thrive in the palm oil sector.

During the visit, SOP’s engineering and estate management teams shared practical insights on good agricultural practices, mill operations, and sustainable plantation management. The guided tours through the mill and fields gave smallholders the chance to see firsthand how processes are carried out on a larger scale, from harvesting to processing.

For the smallholders, the experience was not only eye-opening but also directly relevant to their own work. The knowledge sharing sessions covered areas such as improving crop quality, yield optimization, and efficient field practices—valuable takeaways that they can apply to enhance their own productivity and sustainability.

Ms. Agnes Nyelang, Senior Public Relations Manager of SOP, shared, “We are pleased to welcome the smallholders and the Department of Agriculture from Sri Aman to our operations in Lambir. This visit reflects our commitment to sharing knowledge and best practices that can support smallholders in improving their productivity and sustainability. We believe that through this industrial visit, both industry players and smallholders can contribute to the continued growth of the palm oil sector.”

Through initiatives like this, SOP continues to support smallholders by building capacity, encouraging best practices, and promoting shared growth across the industry.
