MIRI, 26 NOV – Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) welcomed business students from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Samarahan to its Miri Office for an academic visitation focused on corporate governance, financial management, and responsible business practices. The visit was organised as part of SOP’s ongoing commitment to supporting educational development and promoting industry-academic engagement.

During the session, the students were briefed by SOP’s corporate, finance, and sustainability teams on key areas including corporate governance frameworks, financial reporting processes, business ethics, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The engagement offered students valuable insights into how these principles are applied within a real-world organisational structure.

For the students, the visit served as an opportunity to link classroom learning with practical corporate operations. By observing SOP’s governance and financial practices, they gained a clearer understanding of how transparency, accountability, and ethical decision-making contribute to organisational resilience and long-term value creation.

Wilson Wong, Assistant Financial Controller, commented, “We are pleased to share with UiTM Samarahan students how SOP upholds strong governance and financial discipline across our operations. Understanding these fundamentals is essential for future business leaders, and we hope today’s session encourages them to continue pursuing excellence in their studies and careers.”

SOP remains committed to empowering the next generation through knowledge sharing and industry exposure, strengthening the bridge between education and the corporate sector—while continuing to champion responsible and ethical business practices across the organisation.
