Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOPB) in collaboration with Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and Malaysian Certification Concil (MPOCC) held a briefing on Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certification for Smallholders, Outgrowers and Palm Oil Mill Owners in 2016. Meanwhile the event also witnessed the pledge and commitment by SOPB for MSPO certification. MSPO Certification scheme was introduced by MPOB in 2015 to encourage all Malaysian oil palm producers to be certified as the demand on Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) by the international market is huge.

The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Mr. Dennis Ngau, Sarawak State Assemblyman for N77 Telang Usan and witnessed by Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Paul Wong Hee Kwong, Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Eric Kiu Kwong Seng, representatives from MPOB, Dr. Ainie Kuntom, and MPOCC, Mr Chong Wei Kwang together with media and distinguished guests.

The purpose of this briefing was to assist small oil palm producers, Outgrowers and Palm Oil Mill Owners in Miri to be part of the sustainable palm oil value chain. The one-day event witnessed about 336 participants throughout Sarawak attending the MSPO briefing which was held in Imperial Hotel Miri on 23rd September 2016.
