164 Balingian folk can see better now – thanks to SOPB’s ‘Vision Care’ project

MIRI: It was a happy moment for 164 residents in Balingian upon receiving free prescription spectacles from Sarawak Oil Palms Bhd (SOPB) during a simple ceremony at Balingian Community Hall recently.The programme is the group’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, the ‘Vision Care’ project, which was launched in 2013.The project’s key objectives are to create awareness among the rural community of healthy and quality living, and to lower the risks of preventable blindness amongst them.

Riam Road Secondary School to hold food fair Sept 21

MIRI: Riam Road Secondary School (RRSS) will hold its annual food fair at the school hall from 8am to 1pm on Sept 21.According to its principal, Liew Si Chung, the food fair has already received much support from the local community even prior to the event itself. It is held to raise fund to improve and upgrade some of the school facilities.Meanwhile, Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOPB) yesterday came with a donation of 98 bottles of 500ml Merris Natural Vegetable Oil (Classic) and 150 bottles of 2kg of Merris Pure Vegetable Oil, which were handed over to Liew by its Consumer Products Marketing manager Paul Ch’ng.
