The donation drive received positive response from SOP staff and public who were eager to contribute to this noble cause.
Miri – Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad’s (SOP) Blood Donation Drive held in collaboration with Blood Bank of Miri General Hospital and Malaysian Red Crescent Society (Miri Chapter) at Bintang Megamall. Held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, the drive saw an impressive collection of over 50 pints of life-saving blood, contributing to the growing demand for blood supply in the region. Successful donors were presented a bottle of 2KG Merris Lite Pure Vegetable Oil and with a bag of goodies.
According to Assistant Head of Support & Services, Joseph Ling Tiong Ing, the blood donation drive aimed to address the critical shortage of blood stock that frequently encountered by Blood Bank across Sarawak and is also a way to promote the awareness about the importance of regular blood donations.
“We are delighted with the tremendous response from the public for their support towards our blood donation drive. Additionally, I am very proud of SOP staff members who stepped forward and donated their blood. Their selfless act of donating blood has the potential to save numerous lives, and we are delighted to be part of this impactful initiative”, he added.
The blood donation drive comes as a part of the Group’s initiative to give back to the community as it strives to actively contribute towards the need and well-being of the local communities which is line with its corporate social responsibility tagline, “We grow together with local communities”.
