MIRI- SOP sponsored the Inter Miri Division Secondary Schools Choral Speaking Competition, which took place at Imperial Hotel in Miri on 10th July 2023. SOP‘s commitment to promoting education and supporting the youth in Sarawak was exemplified through this remarkable event. The momentous was attended by 200 participants from ten (10) schools across Miri Division.
The Inter Miri Division Secondary Schools Choral Speaking Competition featured impressive performances by the talented students. Esteemed judges evaluated the participants’ presentations, providing valuable feedback to encourage their growth and development. The trophies for the Best Conductor Award and the Best Script Award go to SM Sains Miri. The champion is SMK Chung Hua Miri, followed by SMK Riam as the first runner-up and SMK Pujut as the second runner-up.
The Inter Miri Division Secondary Schools Choral Speaking Competition is an annual event that aims to foster teamwork, confidence, and linguistic skills among secondary school students in the Miri Division. This year’s competition brought together talented participants from various secondary schools, who showcased their abilities in the captivating art of choral speaking.
Mr. Tho Kheng Chiang, General Manager – Plantation, expressed his excitement about the competition, stating, “We are honoured to have sponsored the Inter Miri Division Secondary Schools Choral Speaking Competition. At SOP, we firmly believe in investing in the future of our community by empowering the youth. This competition not only encourages students to develop their speaking abilities but also promotes unity and cultural appreciation.”
Earlier this month, SOP also sponsored the same event Inter Miri Division for Primary Schools Choral Speaking Competition with 180 participants from nine (9) schools across Miri Division.
