BINTULU, 27 OCT – Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) welcomed members of the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) to SOP’s Bintulu Downstream for an industrial visit aimed at fostering knowledge sharing and providing insights into the operational practices of a major industry player in Sarawak.

The programme featured a briefing by SOP’s Downstream personnel, followed by an on-site walkthrough of the facilities. Participants gained first-hand insights into palm oil downstream operations, including the various processing stages, operational standards, and quality assurance practices that support the Group’s Downstream activities.

The visit provided MCCCI members with a deeper understanding of the palm oil value chain, particularly the role of downstream processing in translating plantation output into value-added products. Through direct engagement with SOP’s personnel, the participants also had the opportunity to exchange perspectives on industrial operations, operational efficiency, and the practices adopted to maintain consistent product quality.

Beyond the exposure to downstream operations, the visit reflected the shared value of collaboration between industry and business organisations in strengthening knowledge sharing across Sarawak. For MCCCI, the engagement offered an opportunity to broaden its understanding of the operational practices and capabilities of a key industry player, while providing SOP with a platform to share its experience, exchange industry perspectives, and strengthen ties with the wider business community.

“We welcome opportunities to engage with organisations such as MCCCI and share insights into our downstream operations. Through these exchanges, we hope to contribute to a better understanding of the palm oil industry while fostering stronger relationships and encouraging continued knowledge sharing across Sarawak’s business and industrial sectors,” said Operations Support Manager, Teong Jih Jih.

SOP remains committed to building meaningful relationships with industry stakeholders and supporting initiatives that encourage knowledge exchange and greater understanding of the palm oil value chain. Through engagements such as this visit, the Group continues to strengthen connections with the wider business community while sharing its operational experience and contributing to a more informed and connected industry landscape.
