SOP Employees happily celebrating the Kasi Jadi Gawai Celebration 2025 at Gua Longhouse Chalet Miri.

MIRI, 13 June – Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) joyfully celebrated the Kasi Jadi Gawai Celebration 2025 at Gua Longhouse Chalet Miri. The gathering brought together over 200 SOP employees and their families, which fostered an atmosphere of cultural appreciation, entertainment, and connection. This includes employees from Suai, Lambir and Niah area.

The opening ceremony of gong beating was officiated by the Head of Sustainability, Galau Melayong and Head of Support and Services, Joseph Ling Tiong Ing, accompanied by esteemed leaders. The event showcased the company’s commitment to fostering unity and inclusivity among its workforce, regardless of cultural background.

Guests enjoyed a heartwarming and lively celebration, including two cultural dance performances by 1BeatStudio. A variety of mouth-watering dishes and delicacies were served, representing the diverse cuisines of Sarawak and the cultural significance of Gawai. To enhance the festive atmosphere, a series of games, lucky draws, and distribution of ‘duit Gawai’ for children brought added excitement and joy.

“It is truly exciting to see almost all of the SOP staff and their families coming together to celebrate Gawai today, and to feel the Gawai vibes,” said Galau Melayong, the Head of Sustainability. Lastly, he wishes, “Selamat Hari Gawai, may this joyful celebration bring peace, good health and prosperity to all of you! Gayu Gerai Nyamai, Ohh Haa!”
