MIRI, 16–17 MAY – The SOP Inter-Region Badminton Competition 2026 concluded successfully over the weekend at Tung Sports Centre, Miri, bringing together teams from across all SOP regions for two days of exciting matches, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The event was officiated by SOP’s Chief Operating Officer, Eric Kiu Kwong Seng [邱冠森], who delivered an inspiring opening speech highlighting the importance of unity, discipline, and healthy living through sports within the SOP community.

This year’s competition featured a total of 23 teams, including participation from international colleagues, further enhancing the diversity and spirit of the event. Each team competed across five match categories: Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Veteran Men’s Doubles, and a second Men’s Doubles pairing, providing a dynamic and inclusive format for all participants.

After an exciting series of matches and outstanding performances, the top four teams emerged as follows:

Champion: Bintulu Downstream (first win since participating)

1st Runner-up: Borneo Hornbill

2nd Runner-up: HQ Titans

4th Place: Karabungan Legacy B

Bintulu Downstream successfully secured the title as champions for the very first time, showcasing exceptional teamwork throughout the competition.

The tournament was well-received by SOP employees, with strong team spirit and supportive energy from fellow colleagues contributing to a lively and motivating atmosphere throughout the weekend.
