Beach Cleaning at Bintulu initiative showcases the commitment of two industry-leading companies, Sarawak Oil Palms and Sime Darby Oils Bintulu Sdn Bhd, to preserving the natural beauty and ecological health of our coastal areas.

Bintulu– A dedicated group of 70 employees from Sarawak Oil Palms and Sime Darby Oils Bintulu Sdn Bhd came together to participate in a Beach Cleaning event in Bintulu on 15th September 2023, Friday. This significant initiative was jointly organised by Sarawak Oil Palms and Sime Darby Oils Bintulu Sdn Bhd with the shared goal of preserving the natural beauty and ecological health of Bintulu’s stunning coastline.

The event took place on a Friday afternoon and saw enthusiastic volunteers from both companies collaborating to make a positive impact on the environment. Armed with gloves, trash bags, and a commitment to making a difference, the teams combed the shoreline, meticulously collecting plastic waste, debris, and other pollutants that had washed ashore.

SOP Refinery Controller-Operations Officer, Ir. Kiu Kwong Chiang, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaborative effort, saying, “Our organisations are deeply committed to environmental sustainability and responsible corporate citizenship. By working together on the CSR program, we aim to demonstrate our dedication to preserving the natural beauty of Bintulu’s beaches and safeguarding its marine ecosystem.”

The Beach Cleaning event at Bintulu not only showcased the strong commitment of Sarawak Oil Palms and Sime Darby Oils Bintulu Sdn Bhd to corporate social responsibility but also underlined the importance of community engagement and environmental stewardship.
