Miri – In conjunction with World Sight Day, Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) conducted its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the SOP Vision Care Project at TR. Justine Manai’s longhouse in Miri on 13th October 2022, Thursday.The eye care project is in collaboration with Ministry of Health Malaysia through the partnership and support from Pejabat Kesihatan Bahagian Miri, Klinik Kesihatan Tun Haji Openg, Klinik Kesihatan Ladang 3 and Spec Shop Sdn Bhd.

About 198 residents of TR Justine Manai’s longhouse received free health and eye check-ups on that day. Eye Glasses will be given to those in need, which are fully funded by SOP. It provides convenience and increase the quality of life for the residents in the area.

Chieftain TR Justine Manai thanked SOP for choosing Sg. Entulang for the said project. The generosity of SOP for absorbing all costs for the eye screening program as well as sponsoring eye glasses for his residents are very much appreaciated.

Just last September 2022, SOP conducted the same Vision Care Project at Batu Lintang, Sri Aman with involvement of 23 longhouses as well as at Long Bedian.

Vision Care Project is a CSR initiative designated to reach out to the nearby longhouses surrounding the vicinity of the Group‘s operations. It has been established in 2013 with the aim to create the awareness about healthy and quality living. It is also the intention of SOP to lower the risk of preventable blindness, particularly among children and elderly folks in long houses who often do not have the necessary means to obtain immediate access to medical facilities.

SOP continues to be an active contributor to local community development through organising various economic support and social contribution programmes to contribute to the needs and well-being of the local communities in the areas of education, healthcare, disaster relief and others.
