Longhouse residents of Rh. Andam Anak Wing receives their complementary eyeglasses from SOP Foundation.

Miri, Sarawak – In a heart-warming ceremony, the SOP Foundation reaffirms its commitment to community development by providing 157 longhouse residents from three longhouses in Suai, Miri, with brand new eyeglasses. This generous initiative falls under the ongoing Vision Care Project, a program aimed at promoting eye health and enhancing the quality of life for residents in the region.

The handover ceremony, which took place on 12 December 2023, marked a significant milestone in SOP Foundation‘s dedication to community welfare. The complementary prescription eyeglasses were fully sponsored by SOP Foundation, as part of their continuous efforts to positively impact the lives of those in need.

The Vision Care Project commenced with eyes and health screening on 12 October 2023, at Rh. Andam Anak Wing. Over 200 participants from three longhouses, namely Rh. Andam Anak Wing, Rh. Juan Anak Suim, and Rh. Libau Anak Usang, participated in the event. SOP Foundation collaborated with the Ministry of Health Malaysia, receiving support from Pejabat Kesihatan Bahagian Miri, Klinik Kesihatan Bekenu, Klinik Kesihatan Batu Niah, Klinik Kesihatan Suai Tegageng, as well as Spec Shop Sdn Bhd.

According to Senior Estate Manager, Shoffian Bin Jalil, SOP Foundation is unwaveringly committed to spreading awareness about health and the quality of living for people residing in the vicinity of SOP’s operations. The Vision Care Project has proven instrumental in lowering the risk of preventable blindness amongst the community, making a tangible impact on the lives of those involved.
