SOP Foundation’s Blood Donation Drive A Resounding Success in Miri Community.
Through the SOP Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Sarawak Oil Palms Group (SOP), a blood donation drive was organised at Bintang Megamall Miri on Saturday, 27 January 2024. A commendable 103 pints of blood were collected from 126 registered donors during the event. These donors were generously gifted with a goodies bag and a bottle of 2kg Merris Lite Pure Vegetable Oil as tokens of appreciation.
Iris Yong, representative of SOP Foundation, underscored the multifaceted impact of the blood donation drive. She emphasised its dual role in replenishing blood stocks, particularly susceptible to depletion during festive periods and school breaks, and in raising awareness about this pressing issue throughout Sarawak. She conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the public for their unwavering support and lauded SOP staff members for their selfless contributions. Iris extended special appreciation to the Blood Bank of Miri General Hospital, the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (Miri Chapter), and Bintang Megamall Miri for their invaluable collaboration and support. Additionally, she announced that the SOP Foundation has slated the 2nd Blood Donation Drive for 7 September 2024 at Boulevard Shopping Mall.
